I daresay golf is a poor substitute for hunting. In many respects it is deficient: from the habitat destruction, to the wasteful necessity of buying new clubs too often, to the costly country club memberships and green fees, to the nebulous ecological consequences of predator scarcity... Refining one's hand-eye coordination while procuring food in the field is just as satisfying a sport, and it enhances the predator-deficient ecology rather than depleting it further. Alas, opulence-centric society steers reputable men towards golf. Perhaps the fad will go the way of the millenary trade.
