The train from Louisiana was detained for hours near San Bernardino. I decided to paint. It's alarming to think of what happened a few years later: a runnaway freight train sped down these same tracks after breaking loose from a switching station uphill. Series Description: Scenes from my vacations aboard the Sunset Limited, Coast Starlight, California Zephyr, Empire Builder, Cardinal, etc. Destinations included the Bahamas, the Olympic Peninsula, and Cape Hatteras. LA Union Station was often my starting point.
