At Perkins Library, they subjected me to such stress that I carved this stone into a sculpture called "Scream" -- visible in the Stairway painting, as well as a Rosemead landscape.
I left it behind in Santa Monica, as a parting gift to the buyer of my house on Centinela.
Series Description: Scenes from the Harvard of the South, in Durham, North Carolina. Formerly Trinity College, it rose to prominence after a tobacco magnate opened his checkbook in the 1930s.
